The playgrounds at Cordingley Park (Saratoga Way) and Johnny Bower Park (Parkgate Drive) will be under construction for a few days each in late October and early November. The old equipment will be removed and replaced with new slides, swings and other amenities. The sand surface is also being replace by wood fibre that meets accessibility requirements and standards. Johnny Bower Park was due for replacement in 2016 and Cordingley a few years later. These were part of the capital budget, however, with the help of a Canada 150 grant from the previous federal government and honoured by the current one, about half of the cost is being covered by the Government of Canada, enabling us to move the Cordingley replacement forward into 2016.
