City Council unanimously approved a motion to declare anti-Black racism a crisis in our society and to take concrete action to address it both within the corporation and in the community. As co-chair of the city’s Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Committee, I am looking forward to working with the Mayor’s team and DIAC to listen and learn and then also act on the recommendations that are included in the motion. I believe we are at a critical time in history where we can make meaningful change to address systemic racism and look forward to adding my voice and influence to uprooting discrimination that seeks to divide us as human beings.
