At the General Committee meeting on June 9, Council members will receive a report from staff to consider whether or not to allow cannabis retail stores to open legally in Mississauga. When debating this matter a few years ago, Mississauga opted not to allow such stores to open, whereas neighbouring municipalities like Toronto and Brampton opted in. The key argument for Mississauga was the municipality’s lack of control over where these stores could be set up. Much has been learned over the last number of years that will serve to inform the discussion on June 9.

The corporate report is now available and can be downloaded here. Please read it to gain a better understanding of the subject and the pros and cons of moving ahead or staying with the status quo.

As always, I want to hear what you, my constituents in Ward 10, have to say on the matter.  After reading the report, please send your comments to me by e-mail – sue.mcfadden@mississauga.ca – no later than Tuesday, June 8. Thank you for your time and interest.
