I am so pleased to announce that a new amenity will be coming to the Osprey Marsh this summer! I have made arrangements with the City of Mississauga to build the “Osprey Marsh Lookout” – with benches and newly planted trees for residents to enjoy the beautiful scenery and wildlife of the marsh.
The project is a gift to the Lisgar Residents Association in recognition of their 30th anniversary in July 2021. The LRA was first founded 30 years ago to work with the city in naturalizing the Osprey stormwater management facility and the pond continues to beautify the surrounding neighbourhood to this day.
The Osprey Marsh Lookout will be part of the trail system that circles the pond with an accessible, paved pathway extending southeast from the access to the trail at Pondview Way and Lisgar Drive into the centre of the pond. Construction is expected to start and be completed in July and will include the grading and paving of the walkway, installation of guard rails over the spillway with appropriate warning signage, planting of 8 trees, and installation of benches on a concrete pad at the end of the path. Costs associated with the project are largely covered by Mattamy Homes, the majority property owner of the lands west of Ninth Line, as a community enhancement.
Happy 30th Anniversary to the Lisgar Residents Association! Thank you for your years of volunteerism and dedication to making our community better!
