Congratulations to Heather Zerafa on an outstanding 23 years as crossing guard for St. Edith Stein Catholic Elementary School on Osprey Boulevard. Happy retirement! You will be missed!

The following was provided to me by resident Danielle Davidson:

Our dear crossing guard, Heather Zerafa who we have affectionately nicknamed “Guardie” is retiring after 23 years of bringing joy to the littlest learners of St. Edith Stein Elementary.

She has gone above and beyond to make it fun, safe and memorable for generations of students (myself and now my children included). We have decorated the cross walk and are honoring her today in a celebration in the school this morning. Drive-by honkings, cards, signs and homemade gifts from the kiddos… the works! She is an absolute legend in our neighborhood. She had been dressing up every holiday and decorating the corner for the kids. From Buddy the Elf, to the Grinch, to the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus and everyone in between. Those kids and our city were blessed beyond measure to have such a dedicated, kind and loving crossing guard for so long. We will truly, truly miss her and are sad to see her go! If you are in the neighborhood be sure to wish her a Happy Retirement!
