The Region of Peel Council approved a motion on June 11 recognizing anti-Black racism as a crisis within the Region, and affirmed its commitment to address systemic discrimination by supporting policies and programs that address inequities that the Black community and other marginalized groups continue to experience within Peel. The motion speaks to inequities related to the spread of COVID-19 among racialized groups, collaboration on anti-racism awareness, and reviewing through a diversity lens how agencies and programs are funded by the Region.
