In the wake of the July 16, 2024 torrential rainstorm that impacted hundreds of properties in Mississauga and likely thousands across the GTA, I am requesting that Ward 10 residents who suffered flooding in their basement please report that information to the City.

To make this as simple as possible, please send the following information to my office by email at sue.mcfadden@mississauga.ca

  • Your full name
  • Your residential address
  • Your email address (if reporting by phone)

We do not need photos, videos or any details about the amount of water or how it entered your home at this time.

Why are we collecting this information?

We will use this data to demonstrate to the City that our community requires more investments in stormwater infrastructure, sooner rather than later. The stormwater charge that you pay on your water bill goes into a fund dedicated solely to maintaining and upgrading the City’s existing (and aging) stormwater infrastructure across the entire City. There are several capital projects in the budget forecast and these are massive investments that take time and money to complete. Prioritizing these projects to address the greatest needs is vital. The stormwater charge is making a positive difference in flood prevention and the state of good repair of this critically important infrastructure today and for the future.

Please know that I remain committed to securing the necessary funding to make effective upgrades to stormwater infrastructure in our community as well, as it is clearly needed.

My Ward 10 team is providing regular updates to property owners who experienced flooding on July 16 via direct email communication and a dedicated page on my website.
